Walmart Stock Flat Despite Outpacing Amazon in Price Stability Amid Tariffs
Walmart shares showed muted movement despite new data revealing its superior price control compared to Amazon and Target. According to DataWeave analysis, Amazon's prices surged 12.8% year-to-date through September, outpacing Target's 5.5% and Walmart's 5.3% increases.
The study examined 16,000 products across all three retailers during Trump-era tariff implementation. 'Prices ROSE fastest where consumers shop by choice, not necessity,' noted DataWeave CEO Karthik Bettadapura. Apparel led category increases at 11.5%, followed by home goods (10.8%) and pet products (6.1%).
